At high noon today I selected the winner of the custom pet sculpture giveaway via random number generator. Congratulations to Lindsay McGee! Lindsay, I’ll be in touch with you about the details.
Thank you so much to everyone who signed up. Your pets all sound so sweet, and I enjoyed reading all of your stories! You have all helped make this so successful that I’m planning to make giveaways with different prizes a semi-regular blog feature (seasonally, perhaps?) so stay tuned.
My custom pets are now available on etsy. Clicking on lil’ Meena and Huxley below will take you to the link.
This is my first winter above the Mason-Dixon line and I am learning What Snow Does. Mostly it crunches unpleasantly, sticks to things and makes things wet and gross.
However, last night I found out what snow does when the full moon shines on it. It’s beyond-words lovely.
Stay warm everybody!
I’ve got lots of new exciting things planned for the upcoming year. For starters, I’m re-stocking my shop with all sorts of cute fuzzy goodies for sale. New soaps are available now!
Also, I am going to start experimenting with needlefelted pet portrait sculptures. I’ve already made ones of doggies Meena and Huxley.
Here’s where you come in! I will be holding a drawing one week from now on January 27 at 12 p.m. One lucky winner will get a free customized needlefelted pet. It can be a dog, cat, lizard, chinchilla- any pet you can send me photos of is eligible! Don’t have a pet but still want to play? Favorite animals count too. 🙂
After the winner is notified I’ll ask them to e-mail me photos of their pet from several angles and their shipping address, and I’ll get to work on a unique little miniature that will be mailed to the person.
Leave a comment telling us why your pet is awesome and an e-mail address where you can be reached.
In addition, you’ll get one extra entry for every place you share this post (Facebook, Twitter, your blog, etc) and one extra entry for liking One True Mango’s Facebook page, if you haven’t already done so. Just let me know in the comments where you’ve shared.
By entering this contest, you agree to allow me to use your pet’s photo and their felted likeness for advertisements and examples in the event that you are the winner.
Hope you all have had fun holiday times. I am a little sad that it’s time to fold up my Christmas pajamas, put on real clothes and eat something good for me. I’d better get going though because I have a list of New Years’ goals as long as my arm, shiny new fiber to play with, and an amazing serger to learn how to use.
Here is a photo of the view from the deck of the house on St. George Island where my family spends Beachikah (Hannukah at the beach, best holiday ever.)
This has been the site of much crafting over the years. This time I made two cards from The Moms’ wonderful stash of collage supplies. I think the hummingbird one would be cute to send to new parents.
My other project this break has been learning home canning! I put up 21 jars of dilly beans- spicy pickled green beans- which I felt I needed to learn how to can since they’re one of my favorite things to eat in this world and are a bit pricey to buy pre-made. So far so good. All my jars sealed up nicely and they look so pretty! They won’t be ready to eat for another week or two. Oh, the anticipation!
This will be my first and last canning project for awhile. I love the bustling Juniper Hill Farms kitchen, but there is no way I could keep everything clean and un-poked enough to can in there 😉
