A surprising tool for fiber work

Stephan got me a birthday present that is oh-so-helpful when I’m cleaning and dyeing wool and yarn.

I saw some recommendations for using the spin cycle on your washer to remove water from your yarn or wool quickly. I live in the city and we have no washer. Nope, not even in our building.

Enter the Salad Spinner.

The premise is you use it to spin your lettuce at high speeds to dry it. It just so happens that this works beautifully with yarn and fiber! It takes me about three  rounds of spinning and then dumping the water to sufficiently dry yarn to just-damp. No more getting towels wringing wet trying to dry my work!

Now those big silly green claws that came with it I am not yet sure what to use for 🙂
